A simple, low cost stereo VU meter using LEDs, which are more robust than traditional needle meters. Connects directly to the speaker terminals of a stereo audio power amplifier to provide an approximate visual indication of the output power.

A pair of LM3915 dot/bar display driver ICs are used to drive 2 rows of 10 rectangular LEDs (7 green and 3 red) in a moving bar display. Each row of LEDs spans a power range of 0-30 dB in ten 3dB steps.

This VU meter indicates "peak music power". Ideal add-on module for any of our amplifier kits, or other audio equipment.
