Universal power supply board for mounting any 78xx series 3-terminal voltage regulator of your choice to make a regulated fixed DC voltage 1A maximum power supply.
The 78xx series regulators are available in fixed DC output voltages from 5 - 24Vdc, provide up to 1A load current and feature on-chip protection circuitry that simple shuts the chip down in the event of over heating or excessive current.
The input voltage can be unregulated AC (21V max) or DC (30V max) input that needs to be at least 2-3Vdc above the required output voltage for proper operation.
The kit comprises a heatsink, 1A bridge rectifier, smoothing capacitors, LED power indicator, PCB mounted ON/OFF switch, input/output terminal blocks and an input jack socket.
The user supplies any 78xx series regulator from 5 to 24V (i.e. 7805, 7806, 7808, 7809, 7812, 7815, 7818, 7820, & 7824) and a transformer or unregulated plug pack that has a current rating sufficient for the current to be drawn which is a maximum of 1A.
Product selection advice: Please ensure the equipment under power draws less current than the power supplies maximum rated current detailed below (do not rely on equipment rating specifications as they are often incorrect). We recommend that the power supply is rated at least 20% above the equipment to be powered so it can handle current surges, etc.
